Abstract:

Artificial intelligence is no longer an emerging trend. It is actively reshaping how organizations operate, compete, and deliver value. Yet despite widespread adoption, most AI initiatives fail—not because of flawed algorithms, but because of unclear business alignment, weak data foundations, unrealistic expectations, and traditional project approaches that do not fit probabilistic systems.

For project managers, the challenge is twofold: leveraging AI as a productivity tool while also leading AI-driven transformation initiatives successfully.

This session explores both dimensions. Participants will distinguish AI projects from traditional software and automation efforts, examine common failure patterns, and learn why AI initiatives are fundamentally data-centric. We will discuss how to evaluate business readiness, define measurable success criteria, and apply iterative, MVP-based development approaches appropriate for AI environments.

The session also addresses governance, risk, privacy, and ethical considerations unique to AI, along with practical ways generative AI can enhance project management workflows without eroding critical thinking and professional judgment.

Attendees will leave with a practical framework for managing AI initiatives responsibly, evaluating organizational readiness, and strengthening the competencies needed to remain relevant and indispensable in an AI-enabled world.

Bio:

Julie is a certified and professional project manager, business analyst, and process improvement expert with over 20 years of experience in both the corporate world as well as an independent consultant. Julie is the Owner, Founder, President, and Principal Consultant for Jaguar Business Solutions. Jaguar offers expert project management support, process improvement and optimization, and business analysis services to entrepreneurs, leaders, and small businesses spanning across the for-profit and nonprofit sectors.

In addition to earning a Master’s degree in project management, and earning her PMP credential, Julie also holds current certifications in traditional and agile methodologies, as well as Business Process Improvement Essentials (Lean Six Sigma). She is currently pursuing a Cognitive Project Management Artificial Intelligence (CPMAI) certification and her PhD in Creative Leadership for Innovation and Change (CLIC) from the University of the Virgin Islands.

Julie has managed a wide range of successful projects spanning numerous industries, including custom products and prototypes through fabrication and manufacturing, digital products and SaaS applications, generative AI model development projects, system integrations and implementations, mobile application development projects, countless website rebuilds and redesigns, marketing campaigns, public events, and more. She has worked with both for-profit and non-profit entities, and even helped several organizations establish PMOs.

In 2024, Julie expanded her knowledge, skills, and experience in Learning and Development, and designed, developed, and delivered numerous project management training and mentoring programs for various organizations, all

with varying needs, skill levels, and competencies. Julie is an Authorized Training Partner (ATP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI), the former Director of Professional Development for the Portsmouth, New Hampshire Chapter, and the new incoming Director of Certification for the PMI Chicagoland chapter. She also teaches PMP exam prep for the Portsmouth and Chicagoland PMI chapters.
